I am Andrew Gelbman, an attorney in Albany, New York. I am a principal in the Gelbman Legal Group.
In addition to being an attorney, I have over 30 years of experience in technology and healthcare. I am an expert in online privacy and information technology. I have advised other attorneys on technology and privacy issues for over 25 years.
I also have 16 years of experience in Medicaid and medical billing regulation and policy. I served as a compliance officer for New York’s Medicaid system for over a decade.
I was born in New York City in 1965 and grew up in Commack, NY. I hold baccalaureate degrees from the State University of New York in Philosophy, as well as a Doctorate of Divinity, in addition to a Juris Doctor from the Albany Law School of Union University.
They say behind every cynic is a frustrated idealist. I think this is true. I come to the law as a fourth career having spent time in the arts, information technology, and government service. As a result, I have gotten to see how the legal and regulatory environment impacts the real world.
I firmly believe that there are certain aspects of the law everyone should have a basic familiarity with – to that end, I started this blog to explore those issues in a way most people could easily grasp.
